The Manassas National Battlefield: Where Real Treks Started

The Manassas National Battlefield Park will always be one of my favorite places to hike. I always found myself here after a long day of work, brainstorming my escape plan from the shitty job I had at the time that I hated.

It was here I decided (along with Owen of Snail Trail Outdoors) to make an instagram page to share pictures and videos of the outdoors. This eventually lead to my youtube channel Real Treks, and now theRealTreks.com (some asshole already owns realtreks.com and doesn't even use it).

This park is very unique. Although I've been here countless times, I feel like there are still areas I have not explored. There is always a new structure or monument to be found.

This is probably because I almost exclusively stick to the second loop. It is the perfect distance for an evening stroll, and goes through my favorite spots in the park. And if the second loop isn't enough, you can keep on going through the first. There is also the super secret trail to Cracker Barrel.

Being in such an overcrowded suburban area, it's amazing how peaceful the battlefield is. Especially at night. Usually light pollution sucks, but the way the surounding areas illuminate the sky on a cloudy night doesn't even look real.

After living in a couple different states, I realize I took this place for granted. I've tried to find other local parks and recreation areas, but nothing comes close to the tranquility of the battlefield.

Sidenote. Amazon has been buying land all around the battlefield for 7 figures an acre, and if they ever try to develop my precious battlefield, jeff is gonna have a real problem. That's all I have to say about that. For now.
